P320 Sig Review - Since I locked up my firearms for a while, I didn't put much effort into finding another gun that I wanted to buy. But every now and then, a useful new feature makes me sit up, take notice, and rethink my navigation platform. One of these is the Sig P320 and I was really looking forward to getting my hands on a full size model to test.
Lately, I've been shooting the P320 Carry in 9mm, which is a compact slide with a full grip. Although the shooting has some significant challenges for my ingrained personality, I find the experience exciting. Here are some of the new features offered by the Sig Sauer pistol. Here are my thoughts on the Sig P320 Carry model after putting a few hundred rounds through it this month.
P320 Sig Review
The compact P320 is a semi-automatic pistol. The short slide length means they will work for any standard CBI carry position: 3-5 o'clock or attachment position. Unlike most of Sig Sauer's pistol line, the P320 is shot. In keeping with common sense for a carry gun, there are no external safeties or other unusual external controls.

But another reason to consider the P320 Compact or Buru is its modular chassis system. The lower frame is not the serial part, but the chassis that runs inside the frame is not serial. This means you can change the frame to fit your hand size (sm, md, lg) - even going from full size to subcompact - and even changing from 9mm to Sig .357 to .40 to . 45ACP unmodified from the same serial. guns to each other. I think this is a great system for a modern weapon.
For the purpose of this review, I shot the Show Carry 9mm, which has a compact slide and full grip. It is all but similar to the compact model (only a 2/10" difference in overall height) The launch version, however, gets 2 rounds in the magazine compared to the standard version.
The first thing I noticed was that although the P320 is a bolt-action rifle, it is set up like a hammer-fired rifle, with a beavertail on the upper axis. Because of this design, I was concerned that it would show an inappropriate fold when shooting. I find that while it folds more than say a similarly sized Glock 19, with its lower axis, the P320 isn't bad.
The noticeable difference here from what I'm used to shooting is that the grip angle on the P320 is straighter than the angle on the Glock. It's a standard Sig grip on the side, like a 1911. This means I have the point of aim well drilled with the muzzle pointing under the right conditions and it took me a few shots to remember to change and that's why I click- through to put the sights on. proper alignment. When I did, however, shooting the P320 was a great experience, especially because of the trigger.

P320 retention is very important. It is slightly fatter because it is more rounded on the sides than most grips. Even with the perfect grip, my half hand had no problem getting a good position on the trigger. I found it very good. Of course, if you don't know the grip size, you can change the frame for a larger or smaller one, at a small cost.
There's a little more bend in the middle than I see on most shotguns, but by placing my thumb on the trigger, it's easy for me to control the backlash. I had no problem firing off a string of multiple shots in rapid succession and on multiple targets, so this gun was out of control. With a 17-round magazine for the carry model and 15 rounds for the compact, the capacity is in line with what I would expect. It is interesting to note that the scope grip is only 2/10” longer than the compact version, but you get 2 more rounds in the mag.
The trigger on the P320 is without a doubt the best I have ever seen on any polymer, shotgun. If I could get this kind of feel and action in my gun, I would do it in a heartbeat. I think some people will like the lack of motivation-security that comes from the shoe, which brings things that make a better marriage at your fingertips.
The Sig P320 frame is an awesome model. Thanks to the modular chassis, you can change the frames for grip size, color, scope size and even interior without changing the gun (system). Frames are available for about $46 in three colors: black, normal dark ground, and OD green; and each available in small, medium and large sizes to suit your preferred grip size. For a newbie/tinker like me, this is a great and exciting innovation. More things to play with! I found the texture of the frame to be very soft, so like other polymer guns it will be useless if your hands are sweaty or bloody. Need to run.
Test: Sig Sauer P320 In .45 Acp
The sights are steel, 3-dot night sights and the rear sight has a smooth flat face for easy engagement in one-handed slide storage. I find it easy to pick them up as they shoot and turn at different targets.
The magazines are metal, have a polymer base plate, and are well built. They go free when they are released. They are interchangeable between the P320 and P250 of the same quality and size. Unlike some metal mags, these don't hurt your thumb when you load them in. The external controls on the gun seem to fit me well and the magazine is retractable. The slide has front and rear sights and an interesting angle and the center picatinny rail allows for a light or laser. I like the fact that there is a cutout at the bottom of the grip for better purchase on the magazine plate; useful for those malfunctions where the mag sticks.
Although this is just a shooting review and I haven't fired the gun, the P320 has a very easy and comfortable trigger. The take-down lever movement allows deployment without tools or trigger movements, providing an added level of safety for the unsuspecting. Infielders include striker defense and stoppage defense.
The P320 frame can be changed for color or just fit, and even from compact to full size with different calibers. The trigger is as good as it gets for a polymer pistol. The ingredients are in the box and the things you need and must have to get here. You will get two magazines and a gun. For me, it's the only gun I've come across that will distract me from my daily carry routine.
Review: Wilson Combat Sig Sauer P320
As a carry gun, the P320 is smaller than you might want. By comparison, while the Glock runs 1.18" wide, the P320 is slightly wider at 1.4", which may affect how you choose to carry it. The hammer profile of this shotgun gives it great recoil, adding to the recoil and recoil. Using the drop ring as a thumb for recoil control, but probably not the best advice when shooting hundreds of rounds in a session (my thumbs are known to be quite raw).
With different and comfortable frames, the only knock against the ergonomics is the high back and different angles (for me). Most people will be familiar with this grip angle.
I see nothing to complain about its accuracy. I decided to use a 6 o'clock grip for 25 shots.
The P320 will not be as compact as the compact model, due to the long handle. Also, at 1.4″ wide the P320 is not the thinnest gun you will come across.
Does The Sig P320 M17 Civilian Variant Pistol Live Up To The Army Hype?
The combination of good things here is very strong and may one day inspire me to abandon my allegiance to Glocks and carry a gun. The chassis system is awesome and makes me wonder if other manufacturers will try it.
